Symptoms
Panic attacks are a nerve-racking experience, literally. Counted as one of the most psychologically damaging conditions that easily leads to many behavioral modifications as well, panic attacks and anxiety need to be taken seriously. Though panic attacks are not life-threatening in themselves, experiencing one while driving, or while taking part in some potentially dangerous activity, even climbing stiars for an elderly person, can easily result in a deadly mishap.
Common Symptoms Of Panic Attacks
During a panic attack, many people complain of the following symptoms:
- Heart palpitations
- Increase pulse and heart beat.
- Nausea
- Tightening and possibly pain in the stomach
- Pain in chest and left shoulder (which often causes some people to mistake a panic attack for heart failure)
- ‘Pounding’ in the head
- A revisitation of bad memories
- Feelings of being watched, and having an ‘inner dialogue’
- When a panic attack lasts more that a few minutes, people also report feelings of going crazy and feeling like one is dying.
These are just some of the common symptoms - not everyone experiences all of the symptoms, and there are some aspects to a panic attack that are unique to each individual. In any case, it is easy to see why anyone who has experienced a panic attack would want to be treated of the Panic Disorder as quickly as possible.
What Causes Panic Attacks
While the research on this has returned little in the way of definitive answers, there are a few clear ideas that have emerged:
- Panic attacks are a result of the brain’s acute response to a perceived danger that doesn’t actually exist.
- Panic attacks occur in a somewhat involuntary part of the brain, and therefore regular breathing exercises and meditation have little to no effect on them.
- Therapy sessions, including hypnotherapy and psychotherapy have no greater benefit than simply talking to a friend!
- Medication and drugs dull and numb the body’s senses to try and reduce the severity of panic attacks. This is not only ineffective, but also carries many unpleasant side-effects with it.
- Methods of coping with panic attacks and anxiety, such as meditation, exercise and lifestyle adjustments do not treat panic attacks. They only help the victim deal with them better.
- Panic attacks do NOT harm you physically.
According to the research done by Joe Barry, the author of the famed Panic Away Method that has been used by over 27,000 people to treat panic attacks to date, the best way to completely eliminate panic attacks is to understand them and then use the One Move technique to eliminate them - instantly.
